In Residence: Her the Label

Just in time for summer, we catch up with Her the Label – creators of beautiful, relaxed swimwear and virtual office residents at The Office Space. Her the Label was founded by Sydney born designer Tuyen Nguyen, a young woman who believes that fashion is about clever design, fun and beauty. She grew up surrounded by the skills of her parents who both specialised in textiles and tailoring. Having also been born into a strong beach culture, Tuyen applies her intrinsic swimwear knowledge, which translates into pieces of the highest quality, whilst maintaining a strong fashion aesthetic. Here we chat to Tuyen about the label, her business and a brand new collection. The Office Space: Can you tell us a bit about Her the Label? Her the Label founder, Tuyen Nguyen:  Her was founded in 2014 with every piece locally designed and made in Sydney. I wanted to create swimwear that had a strong aesthetic, but also a huge emphasis on its functionality through the use of quality fabrics. TOS: Why did you pick the swimsuit market? TN: I chose to focus on swimwear as I found there was a lack of accessible swimwear that focuses on both aesthetic and quality. TOS: What is different about Her than other swimsuit labels in Australia? TN: The Her style is minimal, clean lines with an emphasis on the use of quality Italian fabrics. Every piece is also locally designed and made in Sydney. TOS: Tell us about your new collection, Her Ethereal.  TN: Ethereal was inspired by the themes of sport fashion. The collection features nine unique styles that are both delicate and strong, and cut using a performance feather-weight fabric. TOS: What’s your favourite Surry Hills spot to visit? TN: I love 121BC and Berta for good Italian and my favourite coffee spot would be Single Origin Roasters on Reservoir street. Her the Label.
