Power Up

One of the many casualties of COVID-19 was a 3-month gym hiatus across New South Wales.  Whilst it was a treat, at first, to sleep in rather than make that early morning circuit class, the loss of a critical social and physical outlet was hard to replace, even with solitary training and online classes.

Now that gyms are open and restrictions are easing, it’s time to make up for lost ground reconnect with our circuit class. Paramount Recreation Club (PRC) is our top pick for clearing the COVID fog and shedding those extra Uber Eats kilos.

Perched atop our Paramount offices, the Paramount Recreation Club is no ordinary gym.  For starters, it doesn’t smell like a gym sock, thanks to natural materials such as timber and travertine, and the spacious open-air pavilion that allows for a constant air flow. Secondly, PRC is not about pushing a series of self-serve fitness contractions. It facilitates a full health and well-being philosophy. Skilled trainers take small classes or solo sessions with individual focus and a grounding in strength, core and flexibility.

Classes include high intensity workouts, strength training, yoga, Pilates, boxing and the signature Paramount Workout. They’re hosted in our beautiful open air pavilion or out in the terrace, and run with social distancing and safety in mind. New memberships start at just $45 per week with options that include small group classes and personal training.

In addition to the regular fitness program the Rec Club is home to an evolving roster of public events that anyone can attend. Coming to life every weekend on the rooftop of Paramount House, SATURDAYS includes an artisanal market, live DJ sets by our favourite local artists, a rooftop bar by Golden Age and a roster of incredible chefs taking the helm at the Kiosk.  Mid-week, the PRC Kiosk is back after a short hiatus with Executive Chef Griff Pamment at the helm. It is open for breakfast and  lunch, Wednesday to Saturday. The menu uses the best local produce (mostly sourced from The Locals Market) to create delicious, guilt-free dishes.

Where: Level 2, Paramount House (80 Commonwealth Street). Take the lift on the ground floor, just past the café.
