Shannon Murphy is an award-winning theatre director and deviser. She has directed for leading Australian and international theatres including the Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir St Theatre, Griffin Theatre Company, and Schaubühne in Berlin. Shannon was named the most influential NIDA graduate of the decade by Sydney Magazine, and earned the Sydney Theatre Award for Best Independent Production (My Name Is Rachel Corrie) and a nomination for Best Director.
Shannon graduated from AFTRS in 2013 with a graduate Diploma in Directing. She has produced two short films, Kharisma, and Eaglehawk, which have both screened at leading international film festivals and received multiple award nominations. She has directed episodes for some of Australia’s most loved TV series, including Love Child, Offspring, Sisters, Rake, and SBS mini-series On The Ropes, for which she was nominated for an Australian Director’s Guild Award. Shannon is currently in post-production for her first feature film Babyteeth starring Ben Mendelsohn and Essie Davis.
